Simply put, tennis is made up of a series of rallies, where two people stand at opposite ends of a tennis court and hit the ball back and forth over a net. A rally begins with a serve, when one player hits the ball in the air over the net to the other player. A volley is when the ball is returned over the net, by the other player, before it bounces on the court.
Maintaining a ready stance puts you in the right position to receive any shot. Remember to keep your head up so you can see the ball and the court, keep a good balance, and stay on the balls of your feet ready for the next shot.
